Hi,
I think i kinda know what the Lounge is going to say, but thought i'd run it by you guys anyway.I'm thinking of getting a companion for my current resident monster, and was in Petco last night, where they had an adoption thingy going on. They had a bunch of cats and kittens in cages, with plenty of people milling around.
I know these cat rescues are run by a small number of good people, on a shoestring budget, but almost all the cats, and ALL of the kittens they had, looked sick. They were all rheumy eyed, runny nosed, and sluggish, with dull fur and ear mites etc. Some were drooling. Further, i heard the lady from the rescue telling people that all their cats are very healthy, which was a ridiculous statement considering the obvious condition of the cats.Again, i know that these rescues have little money and ten billion cats coming at them every day, but is it normal for them to be adopting out sick looking cats?Aside from wanting to rescue the sick cats (i can't afford to pay huge medical bills, so i'm not the angel they need), is it generally ok to take a cat from a rescue like this, or is it one of those categorical 'turn around and find a better rescue org' type situation?
Please help.
I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
