But the vegetation on the green Isle isn't very good. There atr not many forests, just 5% from the isle is forest! In the moors there are also some special plants. K like Keating, Ronan

Ronan Patrick John Keating was born at the 3rd March in 1977, in Dublin. His father was the owner of a pub and his mother worked as a coiffeur.
He had three older brothers and one older sister. As a teenager he did athletic sports and he was the national Irish champion on the 200 meter distance and on the 800 meter distance from the kids under 13.
When he was 13 he moved with his parents to Dunshaughlin. There his mother had a own barbershop where he worked sometimes.
He visited the Dushaughlin Community College.
Just one year later he moved to Dunsany. There he spent his time with athletic sports again, but especially with sprinting. He was second in the contests against England, Scotland and Wales.
Around
this time, he started taking interest in music and played in different bands. With his second band „Nameste“ he won a talent contest.

And he had to move again, back to Dublin. Besides school he worked as a shoe's seller, but was offered a scholar ship by a famous US college - the same one his brother Gary hat been offered. But unlike Gary, he did not accept it.
At this time he read a advert in a newspaper that there was a casting for singers. He fought against 300 other boys and girls and he won.
In 1994 he took part in the group „Boyzone“. This group was the most popular Irish band for the next years.
At the 2nd February in 1998 his mother died and he left the successful boygroup. He became the manager of another boygroup „Westlife“. And in this year he married Yvonne Connelly. And almost a year later ( 15th March 1999) he became father of his first son, Jack.
At this time he got a „Brit Award“ for his first solo single.
In Los Angeles he began to work at his solo debut „Ronan“. In summer 2000 the sale started and it was a big success. It was sold millionfold, like his single „Life is a rollercoaster“.
In February 2001 his daughter Marie was born and 2005 his son Ali Jo.
Ronan announced the albums „Destinations“, „Turn it on“ and „Bring you home“.
Today he lives with his family in Malahide, near Dublin.

A like Animals

Animals are everyday life in Ireland. Maybe in fact of the reason that nearly everybody has a dog or that most of the ways through the castles cross a meadow. Yes, that's normal for the animals and the animals are not really interested about the people who cross the meadow.
In Ireland there are also lots of sheeps. And every single place which can be eingezäunt?? is reserved for the sheeps. It's not unusuall that there are a lot of traffic jams because sheeps are often crossing streets.
There are also many cows in Ireland. If you travel in Ireland you have to cross many cow paddocks and sometimes the cows are walking with you. Most of the time there are also horses next to the meadows.
Because there are lots of rivers and seas in Ireland, there are also many frogs and amphibians. It's like a paradise for fishers.
But you won't find many spiders, and not one snake in Ireland. The saga says that St. Patrick ejected the snakes when he saw Ireland, because he didn't want that animal, which is responsible for the relegation from the paradise live on this wonderful isle. He pushed with his stick on the ground and the snakes disappeared.
Some more exotic animals are the dolphins and the atlantic puffins.

B like Books
For such a small isle, Ireland has lots of books which are also well in the world of literature and in all his modes. The irish literature is written in irish and also in english. But the most famous books are written in english. Some famous writers are: Oscar Wilde, James Joyce and the four writers which won a nobel prize: George Bernard Shaw, Samuel Beckett, William Butler Yeats and Seamus Heaney.
The oldest literature traditions are in irish. Irish is the third oldest literature language in Europe (after greekand latin) and the most important body of written literature (old and new version) of any celtic language.

Today Ireland is a very important exporter. Yes, it's actually the largest European exporter of software and computers.

D like dance
It's not really known when the Irish dance starts. Many people thinks that the Irish dance comes from the Celtics but there are references that the druids were the first people who explicated (erklären?) the Irish dance. They danced in religious rituals. In these rituals they dignified the sun and the oak tree.
Today there are also pieces of this ritual dance in the Irish dance (today), but now there are also many other aspects in this dance.
The three maindances are:
Rince fada (or Fading) there are two lines of partners who are standing opposite to each others.
The Irish Hey perhaps a kind of as figurdance ore a kind of a rounddance
The Trenchmores a kind of country dance
The modern dances began at 1893 as the Gealic League has been formed. This group comforted the Irish people to reform the Irish culture which has been prevented by the British people.
The first Ceili was in 1897 in London with a big crowd of people. The Irish word ceili is comes from a connection from neighbours in a house to play music, dance and to tell histories. Today they prepare a Ceili to dance in groups and it's an evening for young and old.

E like Emigration
From 1848 to 1950 over 6 million adults and childs emigrated from Ireland. The most important port of emigration is Cobh where 2.5 million people emigrated from.
All these people emigrated because of poverty, crop failures, the land system and a lack of oppertunity.
Irish emigration reached unprecedented proportions during the famine as people fled from hunger and disease.
Many of those famine emigrants went to British North America (today Canada) because there were fare structures and government regulations, but most of the people later went to the United States.
The famine comes from lots of crop failures from potatoes. So the people thought that it was their last chance to escape from Ireland.

F like Fearies
There are many sagas in Ireland about fearies. Fearies are all creatures from the „other world“. There are friendly fearies but there are also antipathic fearies in matters of humans. Ostensible people can contact this creatures if they have all their senses by theirselves. Fearies are buisnesspeople because they prey every single fault from people to have a advantage for theirselves.
Fearies live in bigger groups which are ruled by a feariequeen. These groups wear red and green clothes, lots of jewelery, plumes on their hats and so on.
But there are also fearies who like coats, animal skins, flowers or moss.
The life of the fearies is like the life from the people before the industrial revolution. They have to eat, to drink, they could get ill and they could die. Even if they live much longer than humans.
They like to make a big celebration with singing, dancing and eating. There are four big celebrations: Imbolc, Beltane, Lughnassadh and Samhain. And if they celebrate they hate to be observed by other people.
They don't want to be known so they disguise themselves as animals and they never say their real names.
If you want to be friends with fearies you (you) shall not observe them and you should be orderly, you should keep secrets and you should be amply. People who give water to the fearies to wash their kids, gave them milk, bread and cheese are also accepted by the fearies. If you handle unselfish if fearies are in trouble you'll be helped by them, too.
It's not scientifical detected that fearies are existing, but the Irish people are proud of all the stories of these natty little folks.

G like Gaelic Games
Who want to see Irish people in action should visit one of the Gaelic Games. There are different sports like football (with using of your hands), Hurling (a bit like Hockey, with a little hard ball and wooden stocks) and Camogie (that's Hurling for women).

Hurling is a typical Irish sport and almost played in the whole of Ireland. It's one of the fastest teamsports of over the world.
About 70.000 people came and come to the Croke Park to watch one of the biggest Gaelic Games festival in Ireland. Old and young people, women and men, colored ore white – it's a big event for everybody and it's peaceable most of the time.
But it wasn't always popular like that. At the end of the 19th century the Gaelic Games died out. But this decline was stopped by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). So now the games are very popular and despite of an economic downturn in 2009 the attendances are up about 11% in 2008.

H like History
Irelands location in (the) Western Europe and the closeness to Greatbritain marked the history of Ireland.
Ireland has been inhabited for 7.000 years and the isle was opened for many wars. Because of that (there are) many different traditions and people exist in Ireland. The first people were hunters from Greatbritain. At about 3000 before Christ followed countrymen. These people were neolithic people. At about 200 before Chr. Metalworkers came to Ireland.
In the 6th century before Chr. The first celtic people came from Europe to Ireland. Until today there are parts of celtic traditions and (parts of the) celtic language in Ireland.
In the 5th century after Chr. the Christendom fanted out. The people think that St. Patrick (born at about 390) but it's already known that there were prosestant people before. (?)
Ireland was not occupied by the Romans and there were no following invasions or something like that. Probably that's the reason for the wonderful Irish art, the cultural life in Irish abbeys and the history.
In the 8th century after Chr. the Irish friars brought the christendom to many parts of Europe.
In the late 8th century there were many attacks by vikings in Ireland. But the vikings were also interested in buisness and they also impressed big cities like Dublin, Cork and Waterford.
In 1014 the irish people, which were managed by Brian Boru, the Irish king, won a fight against the vikings. And after these fight of Clontarf the vikings disappeared from Ireland more and more.
In the 12th century Ireland was ruled by the British king the first time. This happened, because the anglo-normans shot the Irish kings down and they also destroyed all the proceedings to a feudal state.

The next 400 years the anglo-normans and their kids were very important in Ireland. But most parts of Ireland were in Irish hand. Aside from that, the importance of the anglo-normans disappeared because of the gealic people and because of the Irish monarchs, which came back very strong.

I like Irish Folk
If you ask (some) german people what they like most of Ireland, then they often say „the music“. But music can be bands and singers like U2, Dana, Westlife and the Dubliners. So you don't really know what they mean. But if you ask them again, they say Irish Folk. But what is Irish Folk?

In general you have to differentiate between traditional music from unknown composists and folkloristic melodies. The traditional music has his beginning in a very unkown past and it was written down much time later. The melodies were brought to the next generation without notes and just with hearing.

This was the beginning of a natural evolution from these melodies because from transfer to transfer parts of the melodies were changing. Like that there were many different versions of the same melody sample. The same happened with the texts. They became a regional cover or they don't really make sense any more.

Beside this traditional music there were also other songs which aren't really traditional any more. The word folk song just means that the song is a part of the folk. It doesn't mean that there are traditional instruments ore melodies.

E like Emigration
...
From 1848 to 1950 over 6 million adults and childs (= children!!) emigrated from Ireland......

So, erstmal Danke an euch!
Mist, fishers >.< ...
