Congratulation Tierlibe =) I know this "Bewerbungsmarathon" from my own AuPair agency, why the hell do they want to know if I was ever in hospital o_O? Like, "you were ill once in your life - you are not suited to take care of children". In the end I decided against an AuPair year, I'd rather finish my studies in time :x

Yesterday, I was out with my classmate from China and some other exchange students. (I'm not an exchange student, I'm from Switzerland) It was really exciting... not only going out but to meet students from the whole world (Philippines, Ecuador, France...) So we waited in front of the club to go in and then we met three boys from England, Qatar and Switzerland. It was really fun and we spoke in English, German, Swissgerman and the two people from the Philippines spoke Philippine (?). I realized that the world isn't really big.. altough these people are from all around the world, but they're only young students like me! They hear the same music, have to study and love doing the same things as me.
It's really exciting and cool to have friends in the whole world! So my English isn't very good at school, but I can talk to people from many different countries... and I think that's the real important thing!

That sounds so great Zworgli.
Different cultures are always interesting. I work in a hotel, but we have not so many people from other country, it's more business travelling. But still my English gets better. I think I will never loose my accent, but that's fine:D.
I would totally love to travel much more. There are so many things to see;).

yeah! but it's very sad, because most of these guys (exchange students) have to go in a few weeks... and probably I'll never see them again.. :( but fortunately they have fb.. so we can keep in touch.;) but it's not the same anyway...
Working in a hotel must be very interesting. but I guess you don't know them very well...but it's really good for your English! :D

Yes I like my job. You meet a lot of people. And sometimes you have even time to chatter a little bit.
I need to teach my husband more German;), cause we just talk in English.

Hi again! I have a question... I wanna write a letter to an exchange student and a good friend of me. Now I have his home adress and his postal adress. I should send the letter to his postal adress, shouldn't I? But why have he two different adresses? His postal adress is the in city near to his village with his real home adress..:eusa_think:

  • English only! Beitrag #270
Where does he live?

  • English only! Beitrag #271
He lives in Australia ;)

Hi Zworgli,
I would go for the postal address. It's Australia and I guess postal address is served more frequently.

Okay, thank you 16 Pfoten! ;) I thought the same, but do you know why they have two adresses? :? it's like a "Postfach" here?

  • English only! Beitrag #274
Yes, it's like a Postfach. Also considering distances in Australia it could be a place in the next 'settlement' so postie would not have to travel far. May I ask why you are choosing mail instead of email? It's so much faster.

Regards,

  • English only! Beitrag #275
It's because if I'm in another country, I want to send him a postcard or maybe a little packet! ;) haha I know that email and fb are much faster, but I think it's not the same...!

So true! There is nothing like a parcel or a postcard.

  • English only! Beitrag #277
Yeah, but only if it reaches its destination >_<
Last year I tried to send a christmas parcel (coockies and stuff) to a friend of mine who was in Sweden for the semester. It actually never reached her until she left  Thank you Deutsche Post... The letter I send her some days later also took several weeks to reach her.

  • English only! Beitrag #278
Sometimes it's worth to pay extra for tracking your parcel. Parcels work surprisingly well between Germany and New Zealand. It's different with postcards though.

Hi guys!
I'm back from Spain now, where I have spent 5 days with my cousin! How are you? Was anyone away too?
Also I sent a parcel to my friend, who was in our class 2 years ago, because she will be 18 years old in august. Now it's on the trip from Germany to Canada. I hope it goes well...
I was really surprised in Spain, because our English isn't very good, but we could talk to others and we get everything we want!
Have a nice day!

Hi Zworgli,

welcome back.
Where have you been in Spain? I was with my family and the dogs in Florida. It was great.
